Hayley is a writer and activist at the Electronic Frontier Foundation, focusing on state-level technology policy. She was formerly a technology journalist at The Washington Post. She is currently based near San Francisco, Calif. with her video game designer husband, William.* Before that, she received her master's degree with a concentration in public policy journalism at the University of Missouri in Columbia, Mo. She's a Minnesota girl at heart and has also interned twice at the (Minneapolis) Star Tribune.
A 2008 graduate of Vassar College in Poughkeepsie, N.Y., she holds a bachelor's degree in History and Japanese with a minor in English. In her spare time she plays video games, goes to eat in fun places with her husband, takes on several small projects for professional improvement -- like buying books to teach herself computer science -- and attempts to train her cat.
She'll let you know how that's going.
*Fun fact: This used to be their wedding website.
